It allows them to gain the key background information and the development of the ideas that you will later discuss in-depth in your paper. You should only use SECONDARY sources (textbooks) to create this section of your paper. The historical context should be written in CHRONOLOGICAL order- ideas, people and events should appear in your writing in the order that they occurred in history.
