August 2012

Dear American History Students and Families,

This year we will be using many texts to understand the complexities of American history. One important text that we will consistently use is Ronald Takaki’s A Different Mirror: A History of Multicultural America. This year we are asking students to purchase their own copy of this text.

The first assignment from this text is due on Thursday, September 6, 2012, the first day of school; therefore all students should have a copy of this text no later than September 1, 2012 to ensure that they are prepared for the first day of school. The first day of school assignment is listed below. If you are purchasing online or through a catalogue, please take shipping time into consideration—this information is being provided to you now so that you can purchase the book as early as possible and avoid delays in shipping or other issues that may occur.

If you are unable to obtain your own copy of the book on time to complete the assignment, we expect you to get a copy from the library or a copy of Chapter 1 is available at this website: http://www.kennesaw.edu/iaie2002/chapterone.pdf.
